Marianne Williamson for Congress-Muy Importante

A couple of weeks ago now, I went to go see Marie Forleo, and Kris Carr speak at a fundraiser for Marianne Williamson. It was one of the most inspirational events I've been to. And I've been to a lot. If you don't know who Marianne Williamson is 1.you should 2. you do now. Her book "A Return to Love" has changed my life along with countless of other peoples lives. You MUST go get that book.

Marianne's philosophy comes from A Course in Miracles and is basically (and I'm paraphrasing here) that we all veered from fear to love and we need to get back to love. We need to get back to the place we were when we were born.

I'm really not doing it any justice by writing about it here. Suffice it to say that it has become my bible. I take it almost everywhere with me and I read it all the time. It's one book I will NEVER lend out. (Along with "The War of Art".)

I've seen Marianne speak 2 times now and both times I have been BLOWN AWAY by her ideas, her delivery, and her passion. She is so smart, so eloquent, and everything she talks about is so relevant. And beyond that, it's so important.

She is currently running for congress in California for District 33. I'll be really honest and say I don't follow or know too much about politics. Because I feel helpless about it. Which as Marianne pointed out, is exactly what we should't be doing. She says that we need to be concerned about politics and the state of our government just like we are concerned with ourselves and the state of our well-being. (Again, she says in such a way that you hear trumpets and bells accompanying her speech).

What I DO know is that this woman needs to be elected. She NEEDS to be in the congress. She needs to be someone with some political power who can actually make changes in our government. She is a woman of change. She makes things happen. She is smart, and sharp, and she changes people's lives! With her books about love, and her ideas about how to change the government.

I wasn't going to write about this on my blog. Because it's not related to music, and seems to be a heavy topic. But then I heard Marianne's voice in my head saying,(in response to running for congress...and again I'm paraphrasing) "what are we afraid of? That we won't be liked? That we'll be laughed at? That no one will care? Ok-let them laugh. But the time to take action is NOW and we don't have the time to waste on people who are laughing and talking about us while they are standing in the corner".

And so I leave you with a short video of Marianne explaining WHY she is running for congress. I'd love to know what YOU think about it. Are you feeling inspired as well? Turned off? Let's discuss!

And what can we do? Those of us who don't live in District 33? Well there are a couple of things. We can donate money (I've done it twice now), and we can spread the word via FB, Twitter, email, phone calls. For more ideas go to http://www.marianneforcongress.com

Thanks so much for lending me your eyes and ears.

Let's start doing something NOW! love and inspiration, Dana
