The Only One I Got

Have you ever been in a moment of your life where you wished you could press pause and take in everything about it? The scent, the sounds, the feelings, the people? I find myself having those moments frequently, especially since it feels like time is passing by in lightning speed.⚡️

When I was in Nashville a couple months ago, I wrote this song with 2 great co-writers, Megan Kelly and Nick Serro while we were experiencing one such moment and wanted to capture it as best we could.

When you feel distracted, do this…

I just came home from a full day of looking at my computer screen for way longer than I’d like and way longer than I think is healthy. I can almost feel the synapses in my brain misfire, and it feels like I’m going cross-eyed.

When I get like that, a voice comes in and says, “when you get home, meditation would be a great idea.”

I then ignore that voice to sit and write this but the sentiment is there and I appreciate that. :)

...and the world didn't end

I’m just back from a 2 week vacation. It was mostly incredible aside from a few heart hurdles but wow! 🤩 .

The first 10 days, I was in my most favorite place in the world, Italy. There really aren’t any words to describe the magic upon magic that I feel there and that I felt there this last trip.

It had been 4 years since I was there last. As we all know, a lot has happened since 2019 🥴. It was better than I ever could have possibly imagined for myself.

Yoga-A Lesson in life

Every time I take a yoga class I am reminded of how much I love it. Having a teacher I love has been the key for me in my journey of loving yoga. (Or anything for that matter. )

My trick to feeling motivated

One of the things I’m most proud of in my life is the fact that for the past 1.5 years or so, I’ve been waking up at 6:15am to workout before work.

Crazy, I know 🤪. If you had told me even 2 years ago that that would be a part of my life I would have laughed in your face. With love of course.

It was at that time that I had switched to working in the corporate world. I was tired of working in the restaurant world and wanted to see what else I could possibly do. (A switch I also thought I’d never make, but that’s a story for another time.)

Lessons in songwriting- and how it relates to life

One of my favorite sessions at the Tin Pan South Seminar in Nashville was given by a songwriter named Steve Seskin. I’m obsessed. He did 2 separate sessions, equally riveting, and I could have listened to him all day. He’s equal parts entertaining and educational. I told him he should take the show on the road as a comedy.

He talked about writing songs in a way I hadn’t heard. It was stuff I knew intuitively but hearing him explain it in that way, felt like a big sigh of relief. He also taught things that made me want to approach songwriting in new ways.

It’s awesome to love something and realize that there’s always more to learn.

Music City

I just got back from Music City, USA, aka Nashville. Aside from the horrible tragedy that happened on Monday and left us all with heavy hearts, the trip was a much needed break from my routine in NYC.

I was there for a music seminar called Tin Pan South. It is by all accounts, geared towards Country music which is really not my thing, but I got so much out of it and feel re-invigorated for my own music and creating with others.
